And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. 1 Corinthians 13:1–8 ESV Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body. “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband. Ephesians 5:22–33 ESV Submit - ὑποτάσσω (hupotassó) To subject, to subordinate, to submit, to be under obedience; willingly subject oneself to obey Usage: The term ὑποτάσσω is used in the New Testament to describe the act of submission or subordination, often in the context of relationships, authority, and order. It is used both in the sense of voluntary submission and in the context of hierarchical structures. Seen also in family and social relationships: Ephesians 5:22-24 uses ὑποτάσσω to describe the relationship between husbands and wives, where wives are encouraged to "submit to their husbands as to the Lord." This reflects a model of mutual respect and love within the Christian household. Love - ἀγαπάω (agapaó) I love, wish well to, take pleasure in, long for; denotes the love of reason, esteem; regard the welfare of Usage in NT: Agapé is a term used in the New Testament to describe a selfless, sacrificial, unconditional love. It is the highest form of love, often associated with the love of God for humanity and the love that believers are called to have for one another. Unlike other Greek words for love, such as "eros" (romantic love) or "philia" (brotherly love), agapé is not based on emotions or feelings but is an act of the will, characterized by a commitment to the well-being of others. Respect - φοβέω (phobeó) to reverence, venerate, to treat with deference or reverential obedience Usage: Reverence and Respect: Beyond fear, φοβέω can also imply a deep respect or reverence, particularly in relationships. For instance, Ephesians 5:33 advises, "However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband."
